Cycling: when the fronter is rapidly and repeatedly switched out for another system member
Emotional residue: emotions left in the front by a system member who is no longer in the front, they don’t belong to anyone in the front but seem stuck in the front
Exolimb: when the body feels as if it’s supposed to have extra limbs due to the current fronter’s extra limbs in the headspace
Exotrauma: trauma related events that did not happen to the physical body ex. A fictive struggling with things related to their source
Force switch: when a headmate is forcibly switched into or out of the front due to any reason

Internal family system: an approach into psychotherapy that identifies and addresses multiple sub personalities or families within each person’s mental system. These sub personalities consist of wounded parts and painful emotions such as anger and shame, and parts that try to control and protect the person from the pain of the wounded parts. The sub personalities are often in conflict with each other and with one’s core self, a concept that describes the confident, compassionate, whole person that is at the core of every individual. Singlet: a person who is the sole occupant of their body; someone who isn’t a plural system
Symnesia: the sharing of memories between two or more system members
System freeze: a time where the system goes into partial dormancy in some way, usually with one main person in front the entire time, it might feel like the system in nonplural for the time due to the lack of connection
